At First Baptist Church, ministry is how we love God, love people, and serve Colona and the surrounding communities. Below are the ministries that shape our life together as a church family.
Worship Ministry
Each Sunday we gather for Christ-centered worship through prayer, Scripture reading, hymns, and contemporary songs. Our desire is to lift up Jesus and grow together in our faith.
Bible Study & Discipleship
We offer weekly opportunities to grow deeper in God’s Word:
- Sunday School – 9:30 AM (Adults & Children): Classes for adults and a dedicated children’s class teaching foundational Bible truths.
- Wednesday Prayer & Bible Study – 9:45 AM / 10:00 AM: A warm, discussion-based time of prayer and study.
Children’s Ministry
We love investing in the next generation. Our children’s ministry includes:
- Children’s Sunday School – 9:30 AM: Kids learn foundational Bible truths in a Christ-centered environment.
- Children’s Church (during the sermon): Offered each Sunday for kids who wish to attend. Children are always welcome to remain with their families in the service.
Homeward Bound Boys
A dedicated group of men who minister through music in our services and throughout the community. Their heart for worship and encouragement is a blessing to all who hear them.
Women’s Ministry
Our Women’s Ministry (WMU) meets once a month, typically on the third Thursday at 9:00 AM. This is a time of fellowship, prayer, Bible study, and missions-focused ministry. All women are welcome.
Senior Living Outreach – Fort Armstrong
Once a month, we lead a worship service at Fort Armstrong Senior Living in Rock Island. This ministry allows us to bless residents through music, Scripture, prayer, and fellowship.
Prayer Ministry
Prayer is central to our life as a church. We gather each Wednesday at 9:45 AM to pray for our church, our community, and one another.
